JOB SUMMARY:



The Research Associate will assist with Clemson Composites Center's research in recycling thermoset composites, contributing to sustainable engineering initiatives. They will focus on developing processes for composite material reuse, specifically for applications like bicycle manufacturing. Other duties as assigned

JOB DUTIES:



50% - Essential - Research Support:
Conducts literature reviews, material testing, and data analysis related to the recycling of thermoset composites.



25% - Essential - Experimental Setup:
Assists in the setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment and composite recycling processes.



25% - Essential - Technical Documentation:
Prepares reports and documentation for ongoing projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Education: A high school diploma and work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.


Work Experience:
0+ years and knowledge of composite materials, basic research skills, and experience with lab equipment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:



Preferred Education: Student in an engineering undergraduate program.

Preferred Education Area: Focus on Composites or Material Recycling.

Preferred Experience: Familiarity with composite bicycle manufacturing and experience in recycling processes; French language proficiency is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standard Hours: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION



Anticipated Salary Range: ($ 23,253.00 - $28,860.00)


Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.


ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL



Normal Operations


Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
